Hi Everyone,
i just took a couple of the quizes and the last one i took was the sf quiz and I believe that I got a 9 and that's better than I would have expected as I do love the older sf, but know little or nothing of the newer stuff. I'm wondering if any of you have any books that you can suggest, and oh, while I'm here, do any of you remember the Galaxy braille magazine from the late 60's and early 70's? I really loved that mag and would just love to find a compendium of some of the fiction that was in it.
My favorite piece was called damnation alley which I so wish I could read once again.

How a propos is your post, since recently Ray Bradbury died. His were amazing and great works!
Try Off Armageddon Reef for a newer sci fi novel.
For me, sci fi can be like magic: if overplaying the aliens and technology part it can get boring. I prefer books where real people solve real problems using the sci fi element as part of the backdrop and the tools, but not immediate answers. Oh and Bard also has the Dosati Experiment.
I am not familiar with the mag you're talking about: born in 1970 here so ...
hitch hiker's guide to the galaxy. :)
Agreed that was brilliant. To the first poster. What was that magazine about?
I absolutely love SF! However, I have mostly only read the new styles of such.
I love s.f. too. I think, though, fantasy is the style that I enjoy most. I've just read this summer Stephen Donaldson's Chronicals of Thomas Covenant, and it is a great book. It's so bad it wasn't advertised... It has nine volumes, and it took some patience to read it, but it was great. Well, I think however, I'll post here a lot, since I have much to say about this topic. I like horror books too, but not all of them... Some are really stupid. Stephen King is one of the best, however. In science fiction, I've just read Frederic Powl's Gateway, which has two sequels, which are not so good like the first in my opinion. Ok, that's all for the moment. Be back soon.
Yep, I've read science fiction for years, probably a while before a lot of the series-based stuff. I like to try a little bit of everything, although I admit, Star Wars books just never grabbed me. I do enjoy fantasy, too, depending on what it is.
